Short guides to setting up Wilder, keeping its answers right, and looking after guests who want a person.

Add Wilder to your website
Wilder appears as a chat bubble in the corner of every page. You add it once, with a short snippet of code.
- Open Embed in the dashboard and click Copy to copy your snippet.
- Pick your website builder under the snippet. You'll get step-by-step instructions for WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow or Google Tag Manager, plus general steps for anything else.
- Paste the snippet where those steps say (usually the footer, or just before
</body>) and publish your site.
- Back in Embed, type your website address under Your website address and click Check my site. It tells you whether Wilder is showing.
Most builders only allow custom code on paid plans: Squarespace's cheapest plan, Wix without a premium plan and WordPress.com below Business can't add it. If you used Google Tag Manager, "Check my site" can't see it: open your site and look for the bubble instead.
What Wilder knows
Wilder only answers from what you've told it. When it doesn't know something, it says so and offers your team instead of guessing.
The quickest start: scan your website
At the top of Settings, paste your website address and click Auto-fill. Wilder reads your homepage, your FAQ page and pages like policies and about, then fills in your details, tours and prices. If it finds an FAQ page, it offers to import those questions too.
Check what it filled in: sections it changed are marked Review. Running Auto-fill again overwrites the fields it fills, including any changes you made to them.
Where things live in Settings
| Section | What goes there |
| Basic Info, Business Details, Contact | Name, location, hours, the phone and email Wilder can give guests, and what happens when a guest wants a person |
| Products / Tours | Each tour or activity with its price, duration and description |
| Menu & Events, Policies | Food and drink, weekly events, cancellation, weather and what to bring |
| FAQs | Answers to questions guests ask. Wilder uses them however the guest words the question, and puts the answer in its own words. |
| Useful Links, Knowledge | Links Wilder can share, and anything else guests should know |
| Booking, Waiver | Your booking system and booking page, and your waiver link |
| Personality, Quick Replies, Pre-chat Form, Branding | How Wilder sounds, the buttons guests can tap, an optional contact form, and colours |
Changes save automatically a moment after you stop typing, and Wilder uses them straight away.
Check my info
Guests get confused answers when your info says two different things, like a 24-hour cancellation window in one place and 48 hours in another. Check my info finds those before guests do.
Go to Settings and click Check my info, near the top of the page. In about 20 seconds you'll see a list, most important first:
- Says two things: two parts of your info disagree (prices, times, ages, policies).
- Differs from your website: your settings and your live website say different things. The check reads your website each time, so it catches prices you changed on your site but not in Wilder.
- Out of date, Looks like a typo, Unclear, Missing: old seasons and years, values that can't be right (like "9-6am"), rules that only cover some tours, and things guests often ask that aren't answered.
Each item quotes the exact lines. Click Go to it to jump to the field and fix it, or Not a problem to hide it. Hidden items come back if the text they quote changes.
Nothing changes on its own: you decide which version is right. The check reads what's saved, so save your edits first. You can run it 20 times a day.
When a guest wants a person
Choose what happens in Settings → Contact, under Alert Preference:
| Option | What happens |
| Two-way chat dashboard | Wilder tells the guest someone will join. The chat appears in your inbox under Needs reply with a chime, and you reply right there in the chat. Tick Also email me if you want an email too. |
| Email alerts | Wilder takes the guest's email or phone number and tells them the team will get back to them. You get an email with the conversation. |
| AI handles everything | Nobody is alerted. Wilder gives guests your public phone and email when they ask for a person. |
Expected Response Time is what Wilder tells guests ("usually within 30 minutes"). Pick a time your team can actually keep.
Complaints are flagged under Needs reply in your inbox even when the guest didn't ask for a person, so they don't get missed.
Your inbox
Chats shows every conversation guests have had with Wilder:
- Needs reply: a guest is waiting for a person. Start here.
- Open and Resolved: ongoing and finished conversations.
- Gaps: chats where Wilder didn't have the answer. Add the answer under Settings → FAQs and Wilder will know it next time.
Click Take on a chat to make it yours: your photo or initial appears on it. To see only your chats, click Everyone at the top of the list and choose Mine. Set your name and photo in Team → Your profile; guests see them on your replies.
Bookings and live availability
Wilder doesn't take payments or make bookings. It answers questions, then sends guests to your booking page to pick a time and pay.
In Settings → Booking, choose your booking system:
- Live availability (Bókun, Peek Pro, Rezdy, Ventrata, Zaui): connect it and Wilder can tell guests which times are free for their group before sending them to book. You'll need an API key from your booking system: ask their support for one for HeyWilder, paste it in, and click Test & connect (Connect Rezdy for Rezdy).
- Booking link (Bookeo, Checkfront, FareHarbor, Rezgo, TrekkSoft, TripWorks, Xola or anything else): paste your booking page link. The easiest way to find it is to copy the link behind the Book Now button on your website.
- I don't take bookings online: Wilder tells guests how to reach you instead.
Live availability for Bókun, Peek Pro, Ventrata and Zaui is new. If your key won't connect, email us and we'll sort it out with you.
Test before you go live
Open Test and chat with Wilder as a guest would. It uses your live settings, and test chats don't appear in your inbox.
Good questions to try:
- Your top three questions from email and phone ("how long is the tour?", "is there parking?").
- A group total: "2 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 11, how much?"
- Something you haven't told Wilder, to see it say so and offer your team.
- "Is this Saturday free?" if you've connected a booking system.
When Wilder doesn't know an answer during a test, you can add it right there with Add answer.
Handing over to a person doesn't happen in the Test tab. Click Open a real chat and ask "can I speak to someone?" to see it reach your inbox.
Contacts and exporting
Contacts lists guests who left an email or phone number in chat, one row per person, with when they first got in touch and their last chat. Click Open chat to read the conversation.
Click Export CSV to download the list for your CRM or email tool. The export follows your search and date filters.
These guests shared their details so you could follow up. Only send marketing emails to people who've agreed to receive them.
